Denise is the very proud mother of two young adults.
Denise resides with her partner on an organic grain farm. The land where they live, and work and play, is situated in Treaty 2 territory, located south of the Riding Mountain National Park, in south-central Manitoba. Currently, they also provide a home for two busy dogs and six equally hardworking farm cats.
2020 and the pandemic brought their adult daughter back to the farm, to work and study. She increased the farming operation to include summer pigs, roasting chickens and laying hens, as well as breeding rabbits and their kit.
In 2023 daughter returned to 'Belly Acres' to live after graduating and securing a full-time job in the Organic Sector with Manitoba Organics (MO). We've heard rumours of cows joining the farm operation!
Denise continues to be the Treasurer of a local Registered Charity, and a Director on her School Division's Foundation. She serves with the Air Cadet League of Manitoba as a liaison to three Squadrons, and is a Director with the Organic Producers Association of Manitoba. She is a Trustee for The Agricultural and Community District of Newdale.
A former Director with Manitoba 4-H Council, Denise was a 4-H Youth Leader for many years; she continues to volunteer with 4-H Manitoba, assisting them in reaching their goal of certifying all leaders in First Aid.
She is a responding member of the local Fire Department, a Ground Search and Rescue team member, a member of the Canadian Ski Patrol, and one of the Westman Critical Incident Stress Management Team. She volunteers with her local Emergency Measures Organization.
Denise is passionate about youth, the environment and the safety and well-being of her community.
